Memorandum on Advocacy for Changes in the Grape and Wine Industry of Ukraine

ITC Project invites to participate in the public discussion of the draft Memorandum on Advocacy for Changes in the Grape and Wine Industry of Ukraine, initiated by the Association of Craft Winemakers of the Black Sea Region and UKRSADVYNPROM

The discussion will take place on November 19, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Zoom.

Draft Memorandum includes main theses:

• brand “Ukrainian wine”,
• the expediency of using the phrase “Ukrainian wine” exclusively for the name of wine produced from grapes, fruits or berries grown on the territory of Ukraine,
• introduction of the traceability of grape and wine products from the bottle to the vineyard based on the harvest declaration, the wine production declaration and the residue declaration,
• creation a unified state information system “Vine-growing and wine-making register”, which will include information on grape plots from 0.15 ha,
• creation the “Wine Office” – an organization designed to monitor declarations, promote and image positioning of Ukrainian wines on the domestic and foreign markets,
• creation the Grape and Wine Fund, which will accumulate funds paid in the form of tax from the sale of each grape seedling, each ton of grapes and each bottle of wine,
• control of the safety of the final product, mandatory control of each batch of wine production.
