Ecology, safety, convenience: during the Farmer 2020 trade show in Kherson Alyona Kolomoytseva told about major trends in world markets

The annual Farmer trade show in Kherson includes panel discussions, seminars, sale of agricultural products, machinery, and seed.

The purpose of the trade show is to establish business contacts, expand the markets and introduce the systems of safety and quality of agricultural products, create conditions for information exchange, improve the investment and innovation climate in the region.

National Manager of ITC Project “Linking Ukrainian SMEs in the Fruits and Vegetables Sector to Global and Domestic Markets and Value Chains” Alyona Kolomoytseva participated in the event “Creating Conditions for Realizing Export Potential”, held at the Farmer 2020.

Alyona Kolomoytseva briefly told the participants about the Project activities and current trends in the international vegetable and fruit markets: environmental, safety, convenience, social responsibility.

“Today, the consumer wants to be sure of the safety of the end product, wants to know as much as possible about it. That is why manufacturers are striving to follow this trend and to introduce appropriate certification,” Alona Kolomoytseva said.

According to her, Ukrainian farmers in the field of vegetables and fruits are gradually expanding their representation in different countries. Including – thanks to participation in international trade fairs like Fruitlogistica, Gulfood, Sial, etc. However, export is not easy. This trend requires systematic efforts to overcome both the stereotypes of doing business and meeting the requirements of the markets where businesses plan to enter.

Alyona Kolomoytseva added that the ITC Project has supported Ukrainian farmers from the South and the Center of Ukraine for five years, and continues to do it in 2020.

“We are ready to provide consulting assistance in doing business, assist in obtaining certificates such as GLOBALG.A.P., and facilitate participation in international events. But the final decision on changing the strategy and direction of development of the company must be made independently, ”- says Alona Kolomoytseva.
