Ukrainian entrepreneurs plan to increase their exports to Belarus

With the support of ITC, Kherson Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Minsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of ten farms and businesses of southern Ukraine held several business meetings in Minsk.

From Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions, such companies as “Vladam”, “Agropatriot”, “Khersonskyi teplychnyi kombinat”, “Altanal”, “Agrocontinent” and others took part in the visit.

From 14 to 17 November, there was an international tradeshow of food industry ProdExpo. For four days, leading manufacturers of food products presented their products, held tastings and contests, introduced everyone with their own novelties.

In addition, the Ukrainian delegation visited the Zhdanovichi agro-enterprise in the Minsk region, where vegetables and roses are grown, and also held negotiations with Belarusian partners in the Minsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the talks at the Minsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the possibility of exporting Ukrainian products to Belarus was discussed. According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, for five months of 2017, the trade turnover between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus amounted to $ 1.64 billion, which is 25.4% or $ 331.7 million more than trade volumes for the same period in 2016. The volume of exports of Ukrainian goods to the Republic of Belarus amounted to $ 426.9 million – an increase of 44.7% over the five months of 2016.

Representatives of the Belarusian trading companies and production enterprises (KLM, FrutPoint, Kodru, Vegetable Institute, etc.) expressed their interest in increasing the supply of Ukrainian fresh vegetables (early potatoes, cabbage, carrots, onions), fruits, watermelons, melons, tomato paste and other products to the markets of Belarus.

During a three-day visit, Ukrainian entrepreneurs of the fruit and vegetable sector exchanged contacts with Belarusian partners and agreed on cooperation. According to the head of the farm “Altanal” (Kherson region) Oleksandr Chervonyi, the visit was interesting and useful. He agreed to export his products to Belarus.

“This is my second foreign visit with the support of ITC. The first was in February this year when we visited the Fruitlogistica tradeshow in Berlin. But a visit to Minsk proved to be more useful for me”, – said Alexander Chervonyi.

“There were 5-6 companies that were directly interested in our products. We exchanged contacts and agreed on the delivery of vegetables in the new year. These are carrots, beets, cabbage, onions and potatoes. The Belarusians offer a good price and they ready to take vegetables from our storage facilities. For our economy it is very good, it is an exit to a new market and the opportunity to fully realize its own products. For organizing a visit to Belarus I’d like to thank ITC and the national project manager Olena Kolomoytseva “, – added Alexander.
