Since 2014, the export of Ukrainian berries has increased from 3,400 tons to 88,130 tons in 2022. This means a 26-fold increase in the sales of Ukrainian berry products abroad. The main types of cultivated berries produced in Ukraine include garden strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, currants, and gooseberries (Source: Ukrainian Berries Association).
In response to changing market trends, Ukrainian companies are quickly adapting and expanding their production.
In 2023, Ukraine again set a record for the export of fresh and frozen berries. Domestic exporters sold 4,900 tons of fresh berry products, which is 16% more compared to 2022 (Source: Ukrainian Agricultural Export Association).
The project continues to support Ukrainian berry growers and exporters in continuation of another ITC project – Eastern Partnership: Ready to Trade, which was operating in Ukraine from 2017 to 2021 with financial support from the EU. As a result, Ukrainian berry growers and exporters are regular participants in the largest sector trade fairs – Fruit Logistica, Gulfood, Fruit Attraction, SIAL, and Anuga. Several farms were provided support in preparing for GlobalG.A.P. certification.
